Safe Sanctuaries

State Street UMC takes the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable individuals very seriously.  All volunteers and staff who work with children and youth must complete annual Safe Sanctuaries training before beginning their service. Face to face trainings are held in the fall each year. At other times, the interim training (see below) can be used.

Missionary Emergency Fund

Each year, our congregation allocates grants from the Missionary Emergency Fund, established by Major A.D. Reynolds in 1920. Projects and ministries funded by the Fund should propagate the Christian faith, function as charity or benevolence, or provide financial assistance to students or schools.

Safe Santuaries Training

The United Methodist Church adopted a resolution in 1996 that states, “God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual and ritual abuse. God calls us to create communities of faith where children and adults grow safe and strong.” State Street UMC takes the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable individuals very seriously.  All volunteers and staff who work with children and youth must complete annual Safe Sanctuaries training before beginning their service. Face to face training is held in the fall each year. At other times, the interim training (see below) can be used.
