Surviving the Holidays
Sunday, November 19, at 2:00 pm
Surviving the Holidays is a seminar/workshop for people who have suffered the loss of a loved one in the recent past. In your grief, you may wonder how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas. You may dread these holidays, knowing that everything has changed and fearing that happy memories from past years can’t be recreated.
In Surviving the Holidays, we will work together with each other to:
- deal with the many emotions we’ll face during the holiday season;
- consider what to do about traditions and other coming changes;
- offer helpful tips for surviving social events; and
- discover hope for our future.
Our senior pastor Jonathan Jonas will lead this two-hour seminar, which includes a video presentation and an opportunity to share strategies for coping with this new season in our lives. Each participant receives a copy of Surviving the Holidays Survival Guide, a 60 page guide and journal for navigating the season.
This workshop may lead to the establishment of a GriefShare support group here at State Street UMC.
