Our students meet each Sunday morning from 10:00-11:00 on the upper level of the building in room 209. During this time, they will explore the people, the stories, and the lessons of the Bible to understand how God might show His will in our lives. Our goal for the students is for them to seek growth in their faith in Jesus Christ and in their love for Him and the people around us.
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you daily.” Colossians 3:16
Sunday Evening Youth Fellowship
Our students meet each Sunday evening on the upper level in rooms 209 and 211. Students arrive at 5:30 and leave at 7:30. Their time together includes a supper, games, fun activities, and fellowship. Their lessons occur separately based on age group. We know that we grow in our love for each other and those around us by spending time together and by praying, serving and studying together. The Sunday Evening Fellowship includes young people from several schools in the city and the surrounding areas.
“May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith so that you will be rooted and grounded in love.” Ephesians 3:17
F.I.S.H. (Faithful in Serving Him) Club
F.I.S.H. Club meets on Wednesday evenings during the school year. It begins at 5:30 pm with supper in the Fellowship Hall. Then, we move upstairs to the youth room 209 from 6:20 – 7:20 pm for group activities and study. F.I.S.H. Club is a ministry that brings together students of varying demographics in a place of unity in the Word.
“Come follow me and I will send you out to fish for people.” Mark 1:17
Mission and Ministry Opportunities
We are excited about organizing and participating in service projects and mission opportunities. These ministries typically take place on weekends during the year and provide the opportunity to serve our local community in Jesus’ name. Some of these ministries include Sharing Christ Ministry in downtown Bristol, the snack pack ministry, helping at Holston Home for Children, and working at the food pantry. Students may also be able to participate in national and international mission trips.
“The Son of Man came to serve, not to be served.” Mathew 20:28
This is an opportunity for our students to personally claim the Christian faith and to proclaim publicly “I am a disciple of Christ!” Confirmation is available to rising 6th graders and any student who has not yet been confirmed into the church.
The United Methodist Church hymnal says:
Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are initiated into Christ’s holy Church. We are incorporated into God’s mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit. All this is God’s gift, offered to us without price.
Through confirmation, and through the reaffirmation of our faith, we renew the covenant declared at our baptism, acknowledge what God is doing for us, and affirm our commitment to Christ’s holy Church.
“And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.” Acts 22:16
Safety and security of your students is paramount at State Street. Regular student ministry volunteers are required to pass a background check and complete an annual Safe Sanctuaries training.
