Missionary Emergency Fund
In 1920, Major A. D. Reynolds established the Missionary Emergency Fund to provide financial support to three Bristol congregations close to his heart: First Presbyterian, State Street United Methodist, and Reynolds Memorial United Methodist. Nearly one hundred years later, the fund has grown to over $20 million, and proceeds are distributed among the three churches each year. Our congregation’s allocation this year is about $180,000.
Our policy is to accept grant applications through August 31, after which an allocations committee will recommend to the church council how the available funds should be distributed. Final distributions will be made in October or November.
Grant applications, including a description of approved uses of the fund, are available in the church office, on the church website at www.statestreetumc.com, and on the information desk in the church narthex.
